Indoor Security Cameras That Store Locally — No Subscription Required
Two tiers, one decision. The E1 Pro covers most renters. The E1 Zoom is the upgrade for larger rooms and longer distances. Both run on local microSD — no monthly fees, no cloud required.
E1 Pro vs E1 Zoom — Know Before You Buy
Both cameras are from the same product line, use the same app, and support local-only storage. The difference comes down to one feature: optical zoom. Whether that matters depends entirely on the room size and distance you're covering.
5MP pan/tilt indoor camera with local microSD storage. The right pick for most renters covering a standard-size room.
- 5MP Super HD (2560×1920) per manufacturer specs
- 355° horizontal / 50° vertical pan & tilt
- Two-way audio — speak and listen through the app
- Person and motion detection with push alerts
- microSD local storage — no subscription required
- Night vision (infrared) per manufacturer specs
- Works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant
Adds optical zoom to the E1 Pro foundation — better suited for larger rooms, open-plan layouts, or longer-distance monitoring.
- Optical zoom — maintains image clarity when zoomed in, unlike digital zoom which degrades quality
- Better detail at distance — useful for open-plan apartments or monitoring across a larger room
- Color night vision per manufacturer specifications — more detail in low-light than infrared-only
- Dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz + 5 GHz) per manufacturer specs — more flexible router compatibility

The E1 Pro is a 2.4 GHz-only camera. If your router broadcasts a combined SSID (one network name covering both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands), you may encounter setup issues. The fix is to split your bands in your router admin panel and connect the camera specifically to the 2.4 GHz network.
The E1 Zoom supports dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz + 5 GHz) per manufacturer specifications, which makes it less sensitive to combined-SSID routers. If you already ran into this issue setting up a Reolink outdoor camera, the E1 Zoom is the lower-friction indoor option.
Which One Is Right for You?
- → You're covering a standard bedroom, living room, or hallway
- → Budget is a factor and you want the most camera per dollar
- → You already have a separate 2.4 GHz network or can split your router bands
- → Color night vision is not a priority for your use case
- → You want a proven, straightforward indoor option with no subscription
- → You're covering a large open-plan space or need detail at distance
- → You want color night vision for better low-light identification
- → Your router uses a combined SSID and splitting it isn't an option
- → You already own a Reolink outdoor camera and want a seamless same-app system
- → The optical zoom upgrade is worth the price difference for your situation
Pairs Well With These Outdoor Cameras
The E1 series uses the Reolink app. Adding a Reolink outdoor camera gives you a full indoor/outdoor system managed in one place — no subscription on either end.
Solar-powered outdoor camera. Pairs directly with the E1 series in the Reolink app — one login covers your full indoor/outdoor setup. No subscription on either camera.

Reolink Digital Technology Co., Ltd. is headquartered in Shenzhen, China. Both the E1 Pro and E1 Zoom are Reolink products.
Both cameras are recommended here because they support local microSD storage with no cloud subscription required. Neither is on the NDAA-banned list at time of writing. As with any network-connected device, the camera app communicates with Reolink servers for remote access, push notifications, and firmware updates. Buyers who require fully air-gapped storage should investigate firmware network-call behavior independently before purchase.
