SSD or HDD — the practical trade-off: a compatible 2.5-inch SATA HDD generally favors capacity per dollar. An SSD favors silence and has no moving mechanical parts. For a HomeBase stored near a bedroom or living area, silence may matter; for maximum retention per dollar, a compatible HDD can make more sense.
Setting Up the HomeBase Bundle
If you choose the three-camera HomeBase bundle, the setup path is straightforward. The exact menu wording can change as the eufy Security app is updated, so follow the current in-app prompts where they differ.
Place the hub near your network equipment with enough airflow for ventilation. Connect power and follow the current HomeBase network setup instructions.
If you are adding a compatible 5V 2.5-inch SATA HDD or SSD, install it in the HomeBase 3 storage bay and allow HomeBase to prepare or format it as required.
Install the current eufy Security app on iOS or Android and follow eufy's current device-setup prompts.
